Rosso del Ticino DOC
Varietal composition: 60% Gamaret (Gamay and Reichensteiner), 40% Merlot
Vinification: Vinification in the bordelaise style with a maceration period of 10 - 14 days in stainless-steel tanks maintained at a temperature of 28 - 32°C. The greater part (66 %) of the wine matured in barriques of new French oak, while 34 % was placed in one-year old barriques, all for about 12 - 17 months. The two varietal compositions are vinified separately and assembled just before bottling. Frequent racking from the lees allows the wine to be bottled without fining, filtration or other physical stabilization. This may result in a slight sediment in the bottle.
Alcohol content: 13% Vol.
Color: Deep and intense bordeaux red.
Bouquet: Very intense, and complex, with smells of black-berries. Nuances of herbs
(lavender), accompanied by roasted notes of tobacco.
Palate: Fresh and well-bodied. Elegant, fruity, with a good structure and soft tannins of
perfect quality and strength. Persistent and balanced at the finish with liquorice notes.
Dining choices: Finds its best match with leg of lamb, hearty meats and well-ripened cheeses.
Serving temperature: 16 – 18° C
Aging: The Dogaia 2018 will reach its full expressive potential beginning in autumn 2021 and will continue to develop in character through 2028 and beyond if properly cellared.
